Based in our new surgery centre in Belfast, Cliodhna joined Optical Express 6 years go and is one of our highly experienced optometrists.
Cliodhna’s day to day routine is never the same, the variety of tasks are endless; from eye examinations right through to pre and post refractive surgery consultations.
One of the benefits of laser eye surgery is the reduction in plastic harming our environment. At Optical Express we are leading the way for a more environmentally friendly and sustainable future. Each clinic will have a recycle box where patients can dispose of their contacts lenses, the packaging and even their glasses safely.
Cliodhna is also surgery support trained, which enables her to get even more experience in the refractive surgery pathway. This allows her to prepare “patients for their day of surgery, giving them their anaesthetic drops and then bringing them into the surgeon”. Optical Express support our colleagues to ensure they are getting the experience, knowledge and career growth that they are aiming for.
She also mentions that “you get a degree of flexibility that you don’t get with independent working”. With a two year old daughter, having a good work life balance is so important, and that’s why Optical Express went above and beyond and sent an engineer to Cliodhna’s house to setup a home office for her.
